Hi Everyone! True confession time. I’ve had a blog for years, and have had to WORK SO HARD to get inspired to write something. The words were in my head, but putting them on the screen seemed like the biggest ordeal after coming home from work at night. But this new blog about books and reading, well, I can’t figure out how to STOP putting words on the screen. Thank you for humoring me. 🙂

Anyway, I’ve been pinning posts about reading challenges for years, but have never committed to a challenge other than Goodreads 52 books in 52 weeks, which is going really well, by the way. However, I found this post from the Pingel Sisters for November that I really want to do. After all, it’s only November 11th, so I have tons of time to complete it, right? So… the Pingel Sisters November challenge calls for four books in the following categories and I’ve linked the books I’ve chosen below.

1- nonfiction bestseller: The Accidental President: Four Months That Changed the World This book is $0 with my Kindle Unlimited subscription so it seems perfect, not to mention that I know almost nothing about Harry S Truman. This should be interesting. I’m pretty slow when reading nonfiction, so it should also be a challenge to complete.
2- science fiction: UGH Not my favorite category, but I’m willing to give it a shot. I went on Amazon to find another complimentary book through my Kindle Unlimited subscription and found the Naturalist which seems to be a mix of mystery and science fiction. I think there are four books in the series, so if I like it, I may have found something to do with my time for the next little while!
3- a book you own but haven’t read: I own soooo many that I haven’t read – that makes this category harder than the others! I think I’m going to cheat a little by finishing a book that I’ve already started. I’m going with The Child by Fiona Barton. I picked this novel up on sale a couple of months ago at our local Barnes and Noble and have a REALLY BAD HABIT of buying/rescuing books and not completing them. This is a prime opportunity to redeem myself.
4- recommendation from a librarian. My all-time favorite librarian won’t return my text messages with a recommendation. It’s like she’s just remembered how many fines I owe the library or something… So I had to get the librarian recommendation elsewhere. I went with LibraryReads.org, reading through months of recommendations and looking them up on my library loan app (because I’m on a BUDGET!). The only available book that struck my fancy is Will My Cat Eat My Eyeballs? by Caitlin Doughty. I’m actually very keen to learn the answer to this question as my cat likes to lick my closed eyelids and it freaks me out a little bit. In any case, I put holds on loads of other books while I was searching, so if I don’t love this book, I can choose another.
